Bienvenidos Hola Festival!!

Wow it was a busy weekend with a lot of choices for fun activities!  I decided that top on my list was the Hola Festival, a celebration of Latin American culture.  Located on the 100 Block of Gay Street the festival has expanded from it’s prior Market Square space (which it had more than outgrown) and ran from 11am to 8pm.  There was plenty to experience as individual countries from Latin and Central America all the way to Spain had educational booths where you could stop by and learn about the demographics of their specific area.  In addition, there were live dance performances and bands throughout the afternoon and early evening.  I have to say, with food and beverage vendors representing Latin and Central American countries, memories from my recent trip to Peru came flooding back and it was hard to decide what to get for dinner!!  I finally went with tamales from Ecuador, empanadas from Colombia, and a orange soda from Mexico…and just for the record I only had one empanada (don’t believe any other inflated media like story you might hear).  In addition, there were multiple vendor booths ranging from US Cellular to my favorite, the Knoxville Area Association of Realtor’s Diversity Committee booth.  If you missed Hola this year make sure you plan for it next October and don’t forget to bring an empty stomach.  Enjoy the short video and I hope to see you around town real soon!
