Interview with a Real Estate Professional
Where do you come from?
Originally I come from Orlando, Florida (it is true people are really born there!). I moved to the beautiful East TN area in 1993 to attend a Master’s Program in Experimental Psychology, at the University of TN, Knoxville. I loved it here so I stayed!!
Where did you go to school?
I graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL in 1993 with a BA in Honors Psychology and German. I had the privilege of living in Germany on two occasions during my school years. While in undergraduate I studied at the University of Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany during the fall of 1990. When I was in graduate school at UT, Knoxville I spent the summer of 1994 working at Max Planck Institut fur Verhaltensphysiologie near Munich. I received my Affiliate Real Estate Broker license in 2009 and my Broker license in 2012. I hold several designations, the Accredited Buyers Representative and Senior Real Estate Specialist.
What kind of work did you do before you began in Real Estate?
After I left the MA program at UT I worked in retail management for over 12 years. I began my career with the Target Corporation as an Executive Team Leader. Several years later I went to work with GAP Inc. where I spent a total of 10 years and worked at three of their brands. My last position was as a District Manager for Old Navy based in East TN. Check out my full professional profile at LinkedIn.
Do you have a life outside Real Estate?
Some days I do more than others! When I am not working I spend time with my amazing daughter where you might find us at the pool swimming, catching up with friends, checking out a festival or visiting local sites. I also serve as the Vice Chair on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Stage Company (best known for Shakespeare on the Square), location scouting for local production companies, or bringing projects like Self Evident Truths to Knoxville.
I was an avid runner, having completed several half marathons and 5K’s, as well as a few sprint triathlons. Now I do more Pilates and Yoga to maintain my health. Travel is another thing I love to do as much as possible. In May 2010 I finished a two week trip where I volunteered at the Remar orphanage in Cuzco, Peru. I am sure you will see me around town perhaps at a play, local concert, art show or local event. Life is too short to stay still!!
What are you passionate about and thankful for?
My loved ones, coffee, great food, positive life altering experiences, the ability to travel, good health, and my amazing friends.
What is your favorite part of the Real Estate business?
Helping people! It is really rewarding to help someone through the process whether of buying or selling a home, whether it is a first time home buyer or someone who is really experienced. Each transaction and client is unique and I really enjoy the process of getting to know them and be a part of such an exciting time in their lives. I also work very hard to make sure it is as smooth a process as possible, be available to provide information, resources and support throughout the process.
What do your pets say about you?
We have three furbabies: Fizzgig, Louis, and Xena. They say, “Our mom rocks because she rescued each of us and also gives us lots of treats and love”. Well if that’s not a character reference then I don’t know what is!!
