Pinterest is my Playground!

Oh Pinterest, how I love thee!

What, you haven’t heard of Pinterest?  Well let me open your eyes to a visual extravaganza, a world of inspiration, a way to discover a city like never before, and a chance to share the things you enjoy with others.  Touted as the fastest growing website EVER Pinterest has already gained more than 10 million users!  Insane, right?

Now, for a busy gal like me I originally thought that there was “NO WAY” I could get sucked into one more social media platform.  However, Pinterest with all its glory won me over quickly!!  Originally I began using it as a way to communicate with my floral designer for my wedding planning.  Then I began to see its use for my business, home design/decoration inspiration and a sort of “visual exploration” of Knoxville.  With one look through my Pinterest Boards you can learn more about me, my aesthetic, my city, my livelihood and hopefully find some inspiration of your own!  It is also a great way to share your likes with friends and family; a tactic that could certainly pay off around gift giving occasions!

For those of you new to Pinterest here is a quick “How To” lesson!

  • Get Invited- ask a friend to invite you and then create your account
  • Link It- to your Facebook and Twitter (c’mon share the joy!)
  • Follow & Be Followed- sharing is caring…follow some Pinterest gurus and some of your friends as well
  • Install- the Pinterest button on your browser…a must have for all pinners
  • C’mon Get Appy- download the Pinterest Ap for your smartphone and/or iPad
  • Create- start a few boards (for example hobbies you like- Gardening, Cooking etc.)
  • Feel Free- to like something now and then create a board later that you can pin it to
  • Get to Pinning!!- I like to Pin while I watch TV or when I am waiting on someone, something etc. (DO NOT PIN & DRIVE)

Worried about what to PIN?  No fears my dears, the worry is what NOT to PIN there are so many options!  As of today I have 31 Boards, 1222 pins, and 389 likes.   Here is a smattering of my collection:

Knoxville Architecture: As a Realtor I am out and about a lot!  It is always amazing to me how many unique and beautiful buildings there are around Knoxville.  This Board is a collection of photos that (for the most part I have taken) around my hometown.  A combination of different architectural styles, vintage signs, landmarks and interiors this board is best described as an “architectural menagerie” of the quaint city of Knoxville. (related Boards: Knoxville Events, Knoxville Real Estate, Favorite Places Knoxville, Knoxville Eats, Downtown Knoxville)

Inexpensive. Handmade. Home. <3: A Board dedicated to the crafty person in all of us.  There is nothing like the thrill of finding an object to repurpose. The idea of making these objects into something new to become a part of our home is wonderful, not only because it is a way to save dinero, but also because it they are a part of you. A reflection of your creativity. A reflection of your spirit. Just like your home. (related Boards: Wedding Decor, Deliciousness, Places I’ve Been)

Color of the Month: So many colors so little time!  Every month I select a color and pin photos that you can use for inspiration to design a room (or wardrobe) around!  I think the most successfully designed rooms I have ever completed have started by using an object (vase, dress etc) as my inspiration point.  My color Boards are best described as those that are “ … intended to help create inspiration for you to transform living spaces into your dream spaces.”.  After the month is over the Color of the Month is retired to one of the Color Me Pretty Boards where you can revisit it as needed!  (related Boards: Color Me Pretty: WhiteColor Me Pretty: GreenColor Me Pretty: RedColor Me Pretty: YellowColor Me Pretty: Orange, Color Me Pretty:Grey)

Kids Rooms:  I get it, sometimes we need more than colors to inspire us!  That is why I have created some gold old fashion room boards.  I love thinking big!  How can you take elements from things you treasure from your childhood, or vacation retreats, or your favorite dream house, and incorporate them into your current living space?  These Boards let you dream BIG and see how others have turned their dreams into real spaces. (related Boards: Outside Spaces, Mid-Century Modern Decor, Kitchens, Bedroom Spaces)

I could go on and on but hopefully this helps give you a better understanding of Pinterest, some ideas for possible Pinterest Boards, and maybe some inspiration for your own personal spaces!

NOW go forth and PIN!!
