We survived the Zombies!!

Well folks you sent me on the Ghoul Bus for October’s Adventure Tuesday, and the good news is we returned intact (albeit a little more scared of the seemingly innocent sites around us)!!  The Ghoul Bus started and ended in front of Mast General and lasts for about two and half spooky hours.  Good thing we had some brave folks aboard…

First we set off on foot down Gay Street.  Our wonderful guide pointed out the various haunted sights in downtown Knoxville.  As we stood in front of the Bijou Theatre she recounted the story of the haunted top floor .  Let’s just say hearing about the Colonel Sanders (relative of the infamous KY Fried Chicken Col.) made the hairs on my neck stand up…but then she told us about Knoxville’s own Dr. Frankenstein which took it to a whole new level.  I am still hoping he is not a distant relative!

Next we proceeded on the Ghoul Bus to Old Gray cemetery.  Old Gray boasts an incredibly rich history with many prominent historic Knoxville figures buried there and is reputed to be one of the most haunted sites in Knoxville.  All I can say is that as we stood in the graveyard I was glad I was in a large group.  From there we moved to the SS Nightmare which took us on a boat tour down the river past the UT body farm and several other haunted sites.  Plan on taking a heavy coat to defend against the chill of the river and a good sense of humor as well.

It seems all is well that ends well!  We had a great time, and I would definitely recommend this as a fun outing for next Halloween.
