Wee Folk Spotted at the Irish Festival!

The World’s Fair Park site was rife with wee folk for the annual Irish Festival.  Truth be told, maybe it wasn’t all wee folk there. However me and my wee girl were in attendance, and we had a fun time indeed!  With the day’s proceeds benefiting the Second Harvest Food Bank it is an event you can feel especially good about supporting.  There were certainly a few challenges for all the festival goers due to the heavy downpour before the start of the event.  True to the rugged spirit of the Irish nobody was going to let a little rain and mud come between them and a good time.  Whether you wanted to get some traditional Eccles cakes to nibble on, have a pint of Guinness, compete in a tug of war contest, or have your face painted there were plenty of activities for all ages.  As we strolled around the venue we got the chance to listen to a little Irish music and even had a little hand to hand combat with a wooden sword.  Maybe next year I won’t get beaten up by an 8 year old.  Oh that’s right, she will be nine.   Well as the old Irish saying goes, “May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live.”.
